The labels are the basic brand identity in any garments. All major manufacturers of ready made garments use varieties of labels to give a best look and brand attraction.Labels are either woven on polyester , cotton or printed labels on various tape qualities.
The label machines are jacquard type using Rapier or needle technology. While the rapier production has some sort of itching problems to the enduser, the needle offer a soft edges and do not affect the neck or skin of the wearer.Again the garment is a mass production industry ,which requires huge quantities of labels of either varieities. Rapier machines produces large qty per machine while needle looms give low production and costs more.
Labels can be of main , wash care , tab and size labels. Depending upon the design of the garment, designers use badges also. This enhances the appearance of the garment furthermore.
I am in this industry supplying labels to major international accounts either directl or indirectly since 1994.
The industry now faces a threat due to heavy and unhealthy competition .Domestc manufcturers feel the heat as international majors like Avery dennison, RVL, SML , shore 2 shore tap the market at the international level and charge prices at their will . Avery now is on acquisition spree and has acquired Paxar and many more manufacturers.This will give them creating a monopoly that will throttle small manufacturers in developing countries.
